Canele – choco-licious

Today, the SweetHut team decided to do some scouting on the competition by going down to try some of their cakes and stuff. Ok… actually we just wanted an excuse to go out, eat nice food and have a good time.

So anyway, we went down to this chocolatier shop called Canele at Paragon cos Sz found out they had this amazing dessert platter. Turns out though that they did not have it anymore, but on the plus side the waitress was kind of cute :p

OK I digress, we tried out some of their cakes:

canele mocha cake

This Matcha cake has the yummy taste of green tea. Good for green tea fans, bad for coffee fans (like me)

Canele Tiramisu

Cherry ate their tiramisu, she has this obsession with tiramisu recently

Canele Special

This is why Canele is first and foremost a chocolatier, this particular cake is so rich, i ate it half way and felt super full.

Finally Back from Latvia

Alright, finally back from my competition in Latvia, it was a nice holiday cum competition, managed to get 3rd along with the rest of the team. Details on my personal blog (shameless plug here)

Anyway now that I am back, it is time to get things rolling, I definitely like to thanks both Sz and Cherry for holding the fort while i am away partying in Latvia :p. Right now I am looking forward to trying out new recipes and if you like us to introduce some cakes, just email or just leave a comment on the blog.

Right now I started testing out some brownie recipes, but sad to say the first batch I made was not very fantastic at all, I guess i need to get used to my new oven and how good/bad it controls heat. On a side note, that new mixer I got rocks! :p

In faraway land…

Greetings from “The Faraway Land”! Our dear Adrian has started to get the ball rolling…So now I guess it’s my turn. I have a love-hate relationship with d.e.s.s.e.r.t.s – they are so delectable, lovely and versatile; yet too much of it can make you feel fat. Hence, in order to not have the whole cake to myself, I have decided to share it….*wide grins*.

I started loving to bake when I was preparing to go into college. Cookies and simple cakes make great gifts and can bring a smile to your loved ones. University life wasn’t that exciting (with regards to baking of course)…Then comes the fun part: Student Exchange Programme in the UK! Whee..I seriously do miss UK. Started experimenting on a few cakes there too. Met beautiful and lovely people from the wonderful church, NCLC (Newcastle Christian Life Centre). (Psst, Mark and Isobel! I miss your cooking and baking! I miss you all at Life Group! xx)

I digress..I met the lovely Cherry in “the faraway land” and we shared common interest in baking, food, tv, shopping etc. What’s more she’s also a fellow “SEP-er” (if there’s such a term hah)! Cool beans. Right, together with my classmate, Adrian…we’ve decided to start this little business venture, a teeny weeny step closer to our bigger dream – to open a cafe!

Alright, I guess I’ve blabbered enough. Lunch beckons…precious lunch break. Signing off now…

Cheerios,

SZ with love (oh yes, for all those who don’t know, I have gone for water baptism and Claire is now my Christian name – need to get used to this…)

Off to Latvia for the week!

I will be gone for the period of 7th may – 15th may. But during that period Shenzhi and Cherry will still be around and those 2 gals are definitely more then capable of holding the fort in my absence.

But anyway, before I leave, I am gonna talk about a few things that will be happening here at SweetHut over the course of the next few weeks. For 1 thing, we will definitely be increasing the variety that we offer as well as try to offer more choices in terms of size (we are limited by the types of pans we currently have)

I will also be keeping a running blog about our new cake ideas and our experiments with making new and yummy cakes, of cos suggestions from readers are more then welcomed! In fact I would love to hear suggestions on what kind of cakes you would like the SweetHut team to try and make next time!

Anyway I have got to sign off, I will bring some updates of my time in Latvia and WHY I am there!

First Post

Hi everyone! This is the first post for SweetHut’s blog, yes it is kind of weird that a guy is doing this first post, but what the heck right? My 2 very pretty teammates will add to this blog soon, so not to worry.

Right now we are rushing to get our website up, but right now if you want to see what cakes we offer, you can still hop on by to the main website, sweethut.biz. Ordering for now is a rather simplistic affair of emailing or given one of the 3 of us a call. (Ladies unfortunately I am not avaliable the entire of next week until 15th May- away in Latvia). We will be getting the online ordering system up ASAP.

Signing off,

Adrian
